Getting started

Connect a sending account

5 min read

Before you can send, BlueyEmail needs a verified sender — the "from" address your subscribers will see. You have two ways to set one up. Pick based on where your email lives today.

Option 1 — Connect a mailbox (easiest)

If you send from Gmail, Google Workspace, or Outlook, connect the mailbox directly with one click. BlueyEmail sends through your provider, so your existing reputation carries over.

  1. 1

Open Email accounts and start Add

A short wizard walks you through four steps: Provider → Connect → Deliverability → Done.

  2. 2

    Select your provider

Pick Gmail / Google Workspace, Outlook / Microsoft 365, or Custom SMTP (SendGrid, Amazon SES, and Mailgun are supported too), then click Continue. The first option, BlueyEmail sending, is Option 2 below — use it once your own domain is verified.

  3. 3

    Authenticate

For Gmail or Outlook, click Continue with Google / Continue with Microsoft and approve access, then set a sending name and reply-to. For Custom SMTP, enter your host, port, username, and password and click Connect account.

  4. 4

    Finish

BlueyEmail confirms the connection and your account is ready to send campaigns.

Free mailbox limits

Gmail and Outlook cap how many emails you can send per day. Fine for small lists — but if you send thousands, use a verified domain instead.

Option 2 — Verify your own domain (best for scale)

Verifying a domain like yourbusiness.com lets you send from any address on it (hello@, news@) at high volume with the best deliverability. It takes a few DNS records — we walk you through it in Authenticate your sending domain.

  1. 1.Go to Sending domains and add your domain.
  2. 2.Copy the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records we generate.
  3. 3.Add them at your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap…).
  4. 4.Click Re-check — records usually resolve within an hour.
  5. 5.Go to Email accounts, add an account, and pick BlueyEmail sending — then type the address you want to send from, hello@yourbusiness.com for example. A verified domain is permission to send; the address is what your email is sent *from*, and campaigns need one.

The address does not have to be a real mailbox

Once the domain is verified you can type any address on it and we will sign and send as it — nothing needs to exist at your mail host. Replies follow your domain's existing MX records, so they arrive wherever your normal mail does. Sending over the API? You can skip the saved address entirely and pass any address on the verified domain as from_email.

You cannot use free domains

Addresses like you@gmail.com cannot be verified as sending domains — Gmail forbids it and it will fail authentication. Use a domain you own, or connect the mailbox with Option 1.

Which should I choose?

  • Just starting, small list, send from a personal or Workspace inbox → connect a mailbox.
  • Sending to thousands, want branded addresses and top deliverability → verify a domain.
  • Not sure → connect a mailbox now; you can add a domain later without losing anything.
