Build an email signup form

6 min read

Your signup form is how new people join your list. In BlueyEmail you can build one in a few minutes, drop it on your site, and have every submission flow straight into your contacts, tags, and automations.

Head to Forms in the left sidebar and click New form. A short setup walks you through three steps — Offer, Template, and Setup — then click Open the form builder → to customize the fields, opt-in, and what happens after someone submits. The builder has tabs across the top: Fields, Design, Thank you, Emails, Settings, and History.

Add your fields

The golden rule: ask for as little as possible. Every extra field lowers the number of people who finish. An email address is the only thing you truly need to start emailing someone.

  • Email is required on every form and can't be removed — it's the one field that matters.
  • Add a First name field only if you plan to personalize your emails with it.
  • Skip phone numbers, company, and other details unless you have a specific reason to collect them right now.

Fewer fields, more signups

A plain email-only form almost always outperforms a longer one. You can always ask for more details later, once someone is already on your list.

Choose single or double opt-in

This setting decides whether new contacts are added right away or have to confirm first. In the form builder it lives under the Emails tab as Double opt-in — "Require email verification before creating a lead."

  • Single opt-in (toggle off) adds the person to your list the moment they submit. It's the smoothest experience and grows your list fastest.
  • Double opt-in (toggle on) sends a verification email first — the contact only joins after they click the link inside. It's an extra step, but it means cleaner, more engaged lists and fewer spam complaints.

Double opt-in lives under the Emails tab of the form builder. Toggle it on for cleaner lists.

When double opt-in is worth it

If deliverability and list quality matter to you (and they should), double opt-in is the safer choice. Confirmed subscribers are far less likely to bounce or mark you as spam.

Set what happens after submit

  1. 1

    Write a success message

Open the Thank you tab and add a short thank-you message that appears right after someone submits — for example, "Thanks! Check your inbox to confirm."

  2. 2

    Or redirect to a page

Prefer to send people somewhere specific? Switch to Redirect and paste a URL, like a welcome page or a download link.

  3. 3

    Apply a tag on submit

In the Automation or Actions section, choose a tag to attach to everyone who signs up through this form — for example, "newsletter" or "webinar-lead". Tags make it easy to segment and target contacts later.

  4. 4

    Start an automation

Connect the form to an automation so new contacts get a welcome email (or a whole sequence) automatically. See Build a welcome sequence.

Publish and embed

When you're happy with the form, click Save & Publish in the top bar. BlueyEmail confirms your form is live and gives you a share link and an embed snippet you can paste into your website's HTML — anywhere you'd like the form to appear.

html
<script src="https://app.blueyemail.com/embed/form.js" data-form="YOUR_FORM_ID"></script>

That's it

Once the snippet is live, every submission lands in your contacts with the right tag applied and any connected automation running automatically.
