Getting started

Send your first campaign

6 min read

A campaign is a single email you send to a group of contacts. With a sender connected and contacts imported, you are ready to send one. Here is the whole flow.

  1. 1

    Start a campaign

Click Create at the top of the left sidebar and choose Email campaign.

  2. 2

    Choose how to design it

Pick From scratch, Basic layouts, or Fully designed templates, then click Start with this. This opens the campaign setup page.

  3. 3

    Fill in the five sections

The setup page has five rows — To, From, Subject, Send time, and Content. Click each to expand it; a live preview updates on the right.

  4. 4

To — pick who receives it

Choose an audience or a segment. A recipient count shows as you pick. Start small for your first send.

  5. 5

    From & Subject

Set your sender name and email account under From, then write a short, specific Subject line — the biggest driver of opens.

  6. 6

    Content — design & personalize

Open Content to build the email in the block editor. Insert {{first_name}} to greet each person — see Personalize with merge tags. Use Send test to email yourself a preview.

  7. 7

Send time — send or schedule

Under Send time, keep Send now or pick a date. When all five sections show a green check, the button reads Send now (or Schedule send).

Before you hit send — a 30-second checklist

  • Subject line reads well and is not ALL CAPS or full of !!!.
  • The {{first_name}} tag has a fallback so no one gets "Hi ,".
  • Every link works and points where you expect.
  • Your address and an unsubscribe link are in the footer (we add these automatically).
  • You sent yourself a test and it looked right on mobile.

Warm up gradually

If this is a brand-new sender, do not blast your entire list on day one. Sending a few hundred and ramping up builds trust with inbox providers. More in Warm up a new sender.

After you send

Open the campaign report to watch opens and clicks roll in. Give it 24–48 hours before judging results — many people read email later in the day. Learn what the numbers mean in Understand your email reports.
